OUR CANDLE STORY

Pipkin&Co was born in 2014 after founder and designer Suzanne Sales visited Danish friends in Copenhagen. She was struct by their love of candles, burning them at breakfast with coffee, and throughout the day. Back in London, she developed the first range of candles MORGEN, DAG and AFTEN, translating to Morning, day and evening.

 

Alongside candles Suzanne also designed Danish inspired products such as aprons, cushion, mugs and stationary. However it was the candles that really took off! So in 2018 it was decided to focus purely on these, redesign the packaging, and extend the range to eight fragrances. Hygge is now a well known Danish word meaning cosy, so four scents in coloured transparent glass were created. Then came the stand alone candle BLOMST (to blossom) which represents new beginnings, love and kindness.

Once the kitchen became too small and larger equipment was much needed to expand the business, Suzanne set about finding a studio. As luck would have it, one came up in an old Victorian factory in Peckham, London and Pipkin&Co moved in March 2019.

 

Our candles can now be found in shops, markets and various design events in and around South East London. Watch this space!
